Biography

I am a professional hair and make-up artist based in Edinburgh. I work with award winning photographers, acclaimed couture designers, models, artists and bridal parties. I also have experience with film/TV, music videos, theatre and fashion shows.

From an early age I was fascinated by the industry, and being highly motivated I have gained over 14 years experience as a qualified hair stylist and 9 years experience as a qualified make-up artist. During 2004 I became a freelance hair and make-up artist. This was to broaden my skills and further enhance my experience and exposure within the industry.

Examples of my work have featured in numerous national magazines and newspapers.

In my spare time I teach students the art of hairdressing and make-up artistry.

Prior to becoming self-employed I worked for 3 award winning Scottish salons - Dom Migele, Premier Hairdressing and Sonia Dees.

During my training years I was the youngest student in Fife to gain a Modern Apprenticeship (Level 3). The following year I gained an Outstanding Achievement Award for my HNC in Hairdressing and Salon Organisation. I further enhanced my training by travelling to Clydebank College to gain two HND’s in Make-up Artistry and Trichology. I am also a qualified bodypainter.

I have completed several training courses from Wella, L’Oreal, Goldwell and Toni & Guy. This gave me exposure to working and being familiar, with several leading brands and their products.

I feel that, as an artist, it is crucial to constantly refresh my ideas and I find inspiration everywhere I look. I love the diverse creative people that I meet during continuously with my work. They have all inspired me in one way or the other.

As a young child I was always fascinated by the world of fashion & beauty, and while my peers were busy playing with toys I was more likely to be found with my head in glossy magazines reading about famous designers, models and make-up artists. As the years went by, my love of the fashion and beauty industry grew deeper. My idols included Linda Evangelista, Vivian Westwood and Kevyn Aucoin.

At the age of 13 I decided that I wanted to become a hairdresser. I encouraged local salons to offer me training however I had to wait until I was 15 to gain employment.
